Night Hike of Blencathra and Surrounding Fells

This all time favourite fell for many seasoned hill walkers never gets boring! No matter which of the many routes available to hike to the summit of Blencathra, it's sure to be a great night out

Highlights: Sunset, Sunrise, Blencathra, Night Hike

The all time favourite fell of Blencathra is a firm favourite for many seasoned hill walkers and never gets boring! But this night hike will take in both the sunset and sunrise while hiking through the night.

Meeting in Mungrisdale our first objective of the evening is the ascent of the eastern slope of Souther Fell to see the sun setting into the distance.

It’s then onwards and upwards onto Scales Fell to reach the summit of Blencathra, an iconic Fell to the Lake District, take it in views by head torch down its edges.

It's then onto Mungrisdale Common, which might have been Wainwrights least favourite fell but if you're a Wainwright bagger, you can tick it off the list.

The scenery doesn’t stop there though, by this time we should start to see the sunrising to the east and our next stop is Bannerdale Crags and its steep crag face. Our last summit for the day is Bowscale Fell before returning down to the River Glenderamackin.
