Checklists of kit for a day out in the mountains

Here is a useful check list if you are wishing to have a day in the mountains with a Mountain Leader in the UK

PLEASE NTOE: This is not an extensive list, it is based on a non wintery day in the UK hills. Weather, especially wind chill plays a massive part on what type of clothing to take as well as the amount of layers needed. The weather is changeable here in the UK. Don't underestimate the severity of the weather. If in doubt, gear up! Please check with me if you are not sure. I will also update on weather a few days before each trip.

Torch
Water (minimum 2L)
Hill food and energy snacks, plenty with it being a long day!
Spare windproof clothing
25 to 45 litre rucksack
Hat, gloves and buff
Walking trousers
Quick dry t-shirt/top
Thermal baselayer
Mid layer, fleece or softshell/windproof
Warm jacket (puffer type)
Waterproof trousers
Waterproof jacket
Walking boots or suitable trail/hiking shoes
Hiking socks
Trekking poles (optional but recommended)

Bear in mind that as your guides, we will be carrying essential group items of safety (for instance sat communications, compass, map and a first aid kit etc)
